On April 19, 2007, Brunson-Dargan Elementary School Principle Rhonda Robinson and Parent Liason Barns called for Darlington church leaders to tour the campus and welcomed their influence and participation.
Rev. Wiley White, Jr., Senior Pastor, and Director of Operations Andrena Vasser-Atkins of Empowerment Christian Center (ECC) states “this experience allowed us to witness the effective influence that we have on our children while in their educational environment.” ECC has over fourteen children who attend Brunson-Dargan alone. “Just by seeing their church leaders on campus, we observed immediate behavior modification. They were also excited to know we were interested in their well-being and educational achievement.”
In the new school year 2007–2008, Pastor White’s strategy will be to assign staff members to visit all schools on a weekly basis. Currently through donations and faithful financial partners, ECC students are awarded activity trips for behavior and academic improvement per semester. Also, Honor Roll students are awarded cash rewards. We hope that more leaders will be encouraged to partner with more schools to impact our children with demonstrated love and re-enforced positive influence.
